Cub Scouts helps children build confidence and encourages the development of both life skills and leadership capabilities from an early age. As an organization, we work to strengthen family bonds by involving parents in activities while also teaching practical skills that prepare kids for everyday challenges. Along the way, children create solid friendships with peers and have opportunities to get outdoors, stay active, and explore!

What do Cub Scouts do?

Cub Scouts have fun while building character, leadership, and life skills through:

  • Outdoor activities and camping
  • STEM projects
  • Community service
  • Games and team-building
  • Learning basic outdoor and safety skills
  • Earning adventure badges and rank advancements

Meetings are engaging hands-on developmental experience that are designed to be optimal for the den’s age-group… not classroom-style lectures.

How often do you meet?

Schedules are dynamic and may vary by season. Typically dens (grade-level group) meets 1 to 2 times per month while the whole pack (all Den groups) meet 1 time per month. The pack also has optional weekend activities like hikes or campouts.

How much does it cost?

  • Annual registration fee (paid to Scouting America)
  • Pack dues (varies by year based on fundraising)
  • Uniform (shirt and neckerchief)and handbook (optional)
  • Activities follow national safety guidelines.

We may offer payment plans or financial assistance if needed because we believe every child should have the opportunity to participate.

What is the time commitment for parents?

Cub Scouts is family-centered, so we create opportunities for parents/guardians to be actively involved in the child’s experience. Lions and Tigers require an adult partner to attend meetings, helping build strong connections from the very beginning. As Scouts grow older, dens continue to encourage parent involvement and parents to volunteer in a variety of ways. You do not need to lead a den to participate… every contribution matters. Even small efforts, such as helping at an event or coordinating snacks, make a big difference and help create a positive, supportive environment for everyone.

Is Cub Scouts safe?

Safety is the top priority.

  • All registered leaders complete background checks.
  • Leaders complete Youth Protection Training.
  • The program follows strict two-deep leadership policies.
  • Activities follow national safety guidelines.

Is Cub Scouts religious or political?

Cub Scouts is non-political and welcomes families of all faiths and backgrounds. We promote values like kindness, responsibility, service, and respect.

Do Scouts go camping?

Camping is a highlight of the program. Family camping makes it fun for both kids and parents. The program offers age-appropriate outdoor adventures designed to match each child’s developmental level to ensure activities are safe, engaging, and rewarding. Best of all, no prior camping experience is required. Families can jump in, learn together, and enjoy the adventure.

How does advancement work?

Scouts earn adventure loops, pins, and rank badges by:

  • Completing hands-on activities
  • Participating in meetings
  • Living the Scout Oath and Law

Advancement is designed to be achievable, positive, and confidence-building.

Does Cub Scouts lead to Eagle Scout?

After 5th grade, Scouts may continue into Scouts BSA, where they can work toward the rank of Eagle Scout.

What uniform is required?

  • Official Cub Scout shirt
  • Neckwear (provided or purchased)
  • Hat (optional)

Uniforms can often be passed down or purchased used.

Can siblings attend?

Siblings are often welcome at pack events, though den meetings are just for registered Scouts. This policy can vary by event.
