Arrows of Light (Fifth Grade)

Arrows of Light Den is for Kids in 5th Grade, Ages 10-11

In Cub Scouts, the Arrows of Light Den provides children with an opportunity to refine their leadership skills, tackle more complex challenges, and prepare for their transition into Scouts BSA. This program emphasizes hands-on learning, outdoor adventures, and problem-solving activities designed to help Scouts build confidence, independence, and strong character. Arrows of Light Scouts focus on strengthening their teamwork and leadership abilities while setting a solid foundation for their future in Scouting and beyond.

Cub Scouts Activities for Arrows of Light

Advanced, Developmental Activities

Arrows of Light Scouts engage in challenging and adventurous activities that require critical thinking, independence, and teamwork. These activities include advanced outdoor skills, overnight camping, hiking, nature exploration, map and compass navigation, basic first aid, STEM projects, and cooking. These experiences push Scouts to think creatively, solve problems, and take on leadership roles, all while preparing them for their next steps in Scouts BSA.

Family Engagement

Though Arrows of Light Scouts are now taking on more responsibility and independence, family involvement remains key. Parents and guardians continue to assist with activities and outings, supporting their children’s growth while providing guidance. This partnership fosters confidence and helps Scouts succeed in their Scouting journey.

Character & Leadership

Arrows of Light Scouts build on core values such as respect, responsibility, honesty, and kindness, applying them in real-world settings. Scouts in this age group begin taking on leadership roles, practice decision-making, and work closely with their peers to develop these skills, all while embracing the Scout Law and Scout Oath as guides for personal growth and leadership.

Achievements and Badges

Arrows of Light Scouts earn a variety of activity badges, arrow points, and other awards for mastering skills, completing challenges, and demonstrating leadership. These achievements recognize their hard work, encourage them to take on new experiences, and prepare them for the next stage in Scouting—the transition into Scouts BSA.
