Webelos Den is for Kids in 4th Grade, Ages 9-10
In Cub Scouts, the Webelos Den provides children with opportunities to take on leadership roles, tackle more advanced challenges, and prepare for the transition to Scouts BSA. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, outdoor adventures, and problem-solving activities that build confidence, independence, and character. Webelos develop practical skills, teamwork, and leadership abilities while gaining a strong foundation for lifelong success in Scouting and beyond.
Cub Scouts Activities for Webelos
Advanced, Developmental Activities
Webelos engage in hands-on, adventurous activities that challenge them to think critically and work independently. Activities include outdoor skills, camping, hikes, nature projects, basic first aid, map and compass navigation, introductory STEM projects, and cooking. These activities encourage problem-solving, creativity, and leadership while preparing Webelos for future Scouting adventures.
Family Engagement
While Webelos are capable of taking on more responsibility and independence, family involvement remains supportive. Parents and guardians assist with activities and outings as needed, helping children succeed and providing guidance while fostering confidence.
Character & Leadership
Webelos build on core values like respect, responsibility, honesty, and kindness, applying them in practical settings. They take on leadership roles, practice decision-making, and work collaboratively with peers, reinforcing the Scout Law and Scout Oath as guiding principles for personal growth.
Achievements and Badges
Webelos earn activity badges, arrow points, and other recognitions for completing challenges, mastering skills, and demonstrating leadership. These achievements highlight accomplishments, encourage trying new experiences, and prepare them for the transition to Scouts BSA.
