Camp USS Lexington Was A Blast for Kids & Parents

Pack 1985 Cub Scouts and parents had an awesome adventure during their overnight stay aboard the historic USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, TX. From the moment we all stepped onto the massive aircraft carrier (dodging tremendous rainstorms), we were excited to explore its decks, climb through passageways, and imagine what life was like for the sailors who once served there. The ship’s unique setting made the experience feel like a real naval mission.

Throughout the day and into evening, our Scouts enjoyed hands-on exhibits, learned about naval aviation, and toured areas of the ship that are usually seen only in movies. They especially loved seeing the aircraft on display and hearing stories about the carrier’s role in history. The combination of learning and adventure kept everyone ready for more.

As night fell, the Cub Scouts settled into their sleeping quarters aboard the dry-docked carrier, making memories they will talk about for years. Sharing the experience with friends, exploring a famous ship after hours, even having a ton of fun in the game room, and then spending the night in such a unique place made the trip both fun and educational. The overnight stay is a highlight and has inspired a greater appreciation for history, teamwork, and service.
